Some of the winners include: Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Amy Nelson, Raelyn Nelson, Bonnie Gardner, Lacy J. Dalton and Mike and Martha Borchetta.

In addition to her love of music, Thompson has an intense passion for horses. Not only does she own and ride horses as often as she can, her love of horses shows up in the songs she sings & writes. Templeton’s mare Jane is a Breyer model & she and Templeton have performed at many horse events together across the country. “My horses are my inspiration, my healers & my teachers,” Templeton says.

Thompson may not be a household name to many but in the music industry she’s well known and well respected. She has written hits for many of country music’s top artists such as Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina, Sherrie’ Austin & Little Texas and her song “Settle Down Cinderella” is featured in the 20th Century Fox motion picture, Dr. Doolittle 3. She has released several albums on her own label & is now working on a new cd called “Icy Blue Heart.”

“We are really thrilled to give this WHINNY to Templeton. She’s got a very loyal following and her music about her love for horses reaches a worldwide audience. And, that definitely helps the equine industry overall,” states WHIN’s Executive Director, Catherine Masters.

'I’m thrilled & honored by this recognition from an INCREDIBLE organization that does SO MUCH for SO MANY!' Thompson states.

Equine Simulators
Harcourt , ON    K0L 1X0
Equine Simulators can be used in a teaching situation, for children and adults.  They can also be used  to give "pony rides" and for fund raising.  They are the safest way to start new riders into the sport of horseback riding.  Imagine a rider who can sit to the trot, does posting trot, change diagonals, can gallop in 2 pt position,  has soft hands, can properly collect the reins, can drop their stirrups at a gallop and pick them back up again and they have never sat on a real horse.  The rider controls the speed with their reins (hands) and legs, just like a real horse.  The simulators can also be used to correct experienced riders problems, they didn't know they had. Sales and Leasing available.  Your real school horses will love you, even more, if you add one of these to your herd! Call or email to find out how you can get a simulator to work for you.

MAGIC LITTLE BOX HELPS EQUINE COMPETITORS AND TRAINERS WITH THE I.R.S.

Las Vegas, Nevada - It took a C.P.A., a group of engineers and software developers to create and produce a little box called the EasyMileLOG. And, it can be a HUGE help to people in the equine industry.

Most equine competitors, trainers, and everyone else in the horse industry want to deduct their mileage driven each year for their businesses. Up until now, the main method of keeping track was the old fashioned way, a note book and a pen.  Most of the time the records did not reflect the real miles driven and competitors, trainers, and others ended up paying the I.R.S. more and worse, have been subject to having their returns audited.

Now, with this simple to install and easy to use device, the days of manual log books are over. Small in size, the EasyMileLOG is simply "magic in a box".  Nothing to think about and no searching for something to write on, all the user has to do is push a button for "business" or “personal". The magic little box does it all. When you need a report just plug it into to your computer and print off your accurate mileage reports.  Plus, there are no monthly fees. Just a onetime purchase of $149.00 for everything you need.

"When I saw this product, I knew I had to help spread the word about it. So many people in the horse industry need this. It is very inexpensive and can save them a lot of hassles on their tax returns," states the Women’s Horse Industry Association's Executive Director, Catherine Masters.

For additional information about the EASY MILE LOG, please contact Charlene Peterson, VP of Sales and Marketing at 702-575-5719 or visit our website at www.easymilelog.com. Use code #MPR8900 and receive extended battery
Tallgrass Now Offering Chinese Meridian Massage - Tui Na Course for Animals

Colorado ----- Never before has the original Chinese Meridian Massage, called Tui Na, pronounced "tway nah," been offered for horses, dogs, and cats to everyone wanting to care for animals. Tui Na is the most commonly used form of bodywork in China today.

Tui Na is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theories and concepts. It can be best described as a combination between massage and acupressure. Massage is the manipulation of bodily tissues, while acupressure works with the energetics of the body. By combining these two powerful yet gentle forms of bodywork humans and animals alike receive the physical and emotional health benefits which include:

   Builds the immune system
Releases endorphins necessary to relieve pain
Strengthens muscles, tendons, joints, and bones
Releases natural cortisone to reduce swelling and inflammation
Resolves injuries more readily by increasing blood circulation and removing toxins
Balances the flow of energy and blood to optimize nourishment of internal organs and bodily tissues.

Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute is the world-renowned leader in animal acupressure. They are offering this two-day Tui Na Course in July 2012. Participants are required to have a working knowledge of the meridian system of animals and basic TCM concepts. The instructors will guide you through a series of hand-techniques such as pressure (Yi zhichantuifa), rolling (Gun fa), grasping (Na fa) and pushing (Tui fa) among others. These techniques can be highly invigorating and have been utilized for thousands of years.

Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute provides a variety of both online and on site clinics worldwide. Nancy Zidonis and Amy Snow are the authors of: Equine Acupressure: A WorkingManual, Acu-Dog: A Guide to Canine Acupressure, The Well-Connected Dog: A Guide to Canine Acupressure, and, Acu-Cat: AGuide to Feline Acupressure. They founded Tallgrass Publishers offering books, manuals, DVDs, and meridian charts. Recently, Tallgrass has released Equine AcuPoint Apps and the Canine AcuPoint iApp.: 888-841-7211. tallgrass@animalacupressure.com

FROM ANN TURNER

It was my honour and pleasure to be asked to be one of the keynote speakers at the CHA International Conference held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington this year.  This is a lifelong dream for me as I owned a Secretariat grandson back in the early 80’s in Jamaica, and together we managed to short list for the Pan Am games in Dressage in 1990.  So you can imagine my excitement when I boarded the plane to fly there!  I was like a kid in a candy store!

It is a beautiful place, Lexington, with miles of white wooden fences and rolling pasture – horse heaven for sure.  Before I left, I had a dream about Secretariat – he came to me and said:  “you must tell the people  that if they have enough heart, they can do anything”.   So I started my first lecture with that message, as this great horse wanted people to know that he never gave up and beat all kinds of odds.  No other horse has ever won the Belmont by 31 lengths and many of his track records remain unbeaten to this day – inspiration for us all!

All the conference attendees stayed at the Marriot Hotel, which is a beautiful hotel and has a good dose of the friendly Southern hospitality I had heard so much about!  The weather turned cold so I had the excuse to go to the Horse Park gift shop and buy a coat and a scarf.  I told the ladies in there about my red horse and well, they couldn’t do enough for me!  They pulled out every bit of Secretariat memorabilia they could find so I could choose what I wanted – I was beside myself!  I bought a wonderful book written by Raymond G. Woolffe Jnr.  He was a jockey at the same time as Ronny Turcotte, but he had an  accident and had to stop riding.  He then became a photojournalist and wrote this wonderful book with all the insider stories and photos that the conventional press would not have been able to get.  Being one of the track boys he was able to gain access to the special moments, like when they took Secretariat back to Kentucky to retire at stud, there is a wonderful one of Eddie Sweat, the groom, watching his great horse and friend run out into a pasture.  It was a sad goodbye for Eddie and the horse, they had been together 24/7 for 3 years, I cried at the photo, the emotions were so deep for me, as I know the value of horses as friends, life coaches, and councillors as I faced life’s challenges.

In the midst of my Secretariat experience, and being in a place that literally breathes horses, I had so much fun meeting people from the 4 corners of this continent – they came from Alaska, New York, California, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, BC and Florida.  It was a wonderful melding of disciplines, but we all had the love of the horse as our main reason for being there.  I have found the CHA to be a great big family, as whether you are a roper, a penner, a dressage rider or jumper, or do therapeutic  riding or trails, everyone is welcome in this organization and we all learn from each other regardless of what saddle we ride in.  This onemanship needs to be cultivated and encouraged in the horse world.  I hope to  visit Kentucky again one day as a tourist so I can go to Keenland to the races, and visit the Museum and the Hall of Fame, I will treasure this visit for the rest of my life.
